Day 25 – Shades of Pink #WorldWatercolorMonth

Day 25 of #WorldWatercolorMonth – Shades of Pink. I am behind because we are having a long weekend here in Iceland and I am actually camping! This only happens once a year. I do not like to be out in the cold…

Ever entered a hotel and where like WTF or OMG when did they last renovate this place? This pink setting is not the worst I can imagine though. With a pink cocktail it might actually be quite pleasant. Somehow I have Welcome to the Hotel California stuck in my head.

Day 21 – Patterns #WorldWatercolorMonth

I am pretty sure everyone has seen these kind of tourists at some point? Or are you even one of them?? The guy reminds me of Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreations. It´s definitely the moustache!

Happy lazy Sunday afternoon everyone! At least that´s what I am having.

Day 7 – Shiny Things #WorldWatercolorMonth

Shiny things. First thing that came to mind was the incredible 3000 year old jewellery I saw at the Archeological Museum in Athens. Go and check it out if you are visiting the city. Definitely worth it.

There are plenty of souvenir and jewellery shops in the centre of Athens. I have to admit I was attracted by the shiny things a lot. By accident I discovered in a side street off the tourist path (I usually go the opposite direction from all the tourists) a small family run handmade jewellery shop called Zaras. Fell in love with their earring designs and became quite a good customer during my stay.

World Watercolor Month – Day 1

I decided to participate again in World Watercolor Month in July.

I had a lot of fun last year doing my Aerial Acrobatics series.  I am not quite sure about the theme for this year – it might be travel – in addition to following the prompt list of this year.

Prompt for day 1 – Primary palette. I am off to town to buy better paper as this one turned out to be quite shitty.

Shopping in Athens

Ermou Street is the main shopping street in the centre of Athens. I went there only a couple of times as I did not really enjoy the street nor the shopping there. Always thought it was too exhausting.

Too crowded with too many people, tourists and locals, and mainly the same high street shops as anywhere else. But you can also spot the occasional street dog without a care in the world for it all.

Sightseeing in Pink Heels

I went to visit the Acropolis at the end of March for the first time. Fascinating to be there with a fantastic view over the city. However, the whole hill and most paths around it consist of quite slippery smooth rock and I was happy to be wearing trainers.

I was impressed and amused when I spotted the lady below in her pink heels, wobbling around in slow motion supported by a friend, both trying not to lose grip.

On my way down the hill I spotted her again when she photographed street art. I think it took her forever to make her way down as this was less than 5 minutes from the exit and I had been sitting in the sun for a good hour before I met her there.

I like to wear nice dresses but definitely comfortable shoes with them. Would you go sightseeing in heels?

The 90s are Back

On my first day in Athens I was enjoying the mid-February sun in the park in Kypseli. After Iceland it felt like a warm summer day to me, when I spotted this girl and her dog.

I had to take a picture of her, because I haven’t seen these kind of plateau shoes in action since the Spice Girls. Turns out they are quite popular here. Maybe because the average Greek girl is rather short…? I think there are some fashion trends that should stay dead. Those shoes are one of them.

Still on #OneWeek100People2019

Second last of my people doodle pages from the One Week 100 People challenge. Now fully coloured. Had a short break from drawing as I was entertaining visitors the last weeks in and around Athens.

Big thank you to Gabriela for the inspiration to put in speech bubbles. Put the idea straight to action in this doodle. Also check out her brillant blog Artschaft about art gems and  her exploration of paintings.
